If you are unlicensed and installing security systems (which INCLUDE security cameras, CCTV, access control systems, etc.) or fire alarm systems in the State of New York you may be fined up to $10,000.00! Signed by the Governor on August 1, 2007. Effective November 1, 2007! Effective June 1, 2009, Title 19 NYCRR, Part 196 was amended to increase the qualifying education required for a New York State Security and Fire Alarm Systems Installer license. This amendment adds an additional 21 hour module, Service and Maintenance of Alarm Systems, increasing the education requirement from 60 to 81 hours. This amendment effects new applicants made only after May 31, 2009. You may ask why Alarm Installer Classes?
In accordance with New York State Business Law,
all persons or companies in the business of installing, maintaining, servicing
or inspecting alarm or fire alarm systems in New York State must be licensed by
the Department of State.
If you are unlicensed and installing security systems
(which INCLUDE security cameras, CCTV, access control systems, etc.) or fire
alarm systems in the State of New York
you may be fined up to $10,000.00! Signed
by the Governor on August 1, 2007. Effective November 1, 2007! Applicants are required to take an approved 60-hour training course and must pass a state test before issuance of a license. MBFAA will be conducting approved classes in this regard. These classes will fulfill the state requirements, provided you complete the course successfully.

The classes are done with graphic presentations,
and with our certified instructors. Students are supplied with soft cover books
containing extensive information that will serve as a resource throughout your
electronic security career. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SCHEDULED TRAINING CLASSES FOR — NYS APPROVED 81 HOUR COURSE — UPDATED PROCEDURES - READ CAREFULLY INSTRUCTIONS: To be eligible for the New York state license, you must comply with the following rules and regulations. Upon completion of each level a test is given and then forwarded for grading. After receiving a passing grade you will have the required certificate from each level. You then contact the New York state licensing division for the upcoming dates of their examination. They will furnish you with various dates and locations. Once you have made your commitment to attend these courses it is of the utmost importance that you abide by that commitment. In order to confirm your enrollment in the course MBFAA is sponsoring, you must do the following: 1. Completed registration form must be in this office prior to the first day of the class you are taking, along with your check or money order. We also accept major credit cards. 2. You will receive a confirmation from this office upon receipt of completed registration form and your method of payment has cleared. 3. After enrollment, if for some reason you must cancel for that level, you must notify this office 7 days in advance of the scheduled date or you forfeit the fee for that module. Should you notify this office in the time allowed, a fee would be applied in order to cover expenses. You will then be placed on the list for the next class and notified by this office of the dates. 4. If for some reason MBFAA should deem it necessary to cancel the courses, your fee will be refunded or credited to the next scheduled class.
